ABOUT

Art Curated by KSD Designs

Selecting art with intention brings confidence to the process of creating a space that is both beautiful and deeply personal. While artwork is often considered the finishing touch in interior design, we believe it should be part of the vision from the very beginning.

For founder Kate, art is not an afterthought—it is the foundation. Many of her interiors are thoughtfully designed around a carefully selected piece of artwork, recognizing art's unique ability to transform a space, establish a focal point, and infuse a home with character and meaning.

The Gallery on Federal was created to unite the worlds of fine art and interior design. Here, art selection and design are approached hand in hand, allowing clients to discover pieces that not only complement their surroundings but also inspire the overall aesthetic of a space. The result is an effortless starting point for creating a cohesive, distinctive environment.

Emily Munson

ART CONSULTANT

While living in Boston, Emily worked at the Museum of Fine Arts as an art educator and program manager. She has taught studio art classes to people of all ages and backgrounds and holds a core belief that art is for everyone.

Emily also has a unique perspective on how art can actually affect a person’s wellbeing from her experience teaching art workshops at world-renowned hospitals such as Dana Farber, Boston Children’s Hospital, and MGH. She has seen first-hand how art has the power to calm, inspire, ignite conversation, and tell meaningful stories.

Her aesthetic leans modern, abstract, often colorful and geometric. She loves when art is conceptual and tells a story. Blending these styles to compliment and elevate home interiors is an ongoing obsession. Emily can be found frequenting galleries and museums throughout New England and is thrilled to be bringing unique works of art to The Gallery in Newburyport and into people’s homes.

At The Gallery

OUR PHILOSOPHY

As an extension of our design studio, we believe that art should be selected as an expression of your heart. It should celebrate life, spark joy, inspire you to do something great or calm you in that cozy space.

What atmosphere do you want to create for your space? Dramatic, neutral, or harmonious? The artwork’s palette can either match, contrast, or redefine the tones of its surroundings, through endless bespoke combinations that can make a place unique.

Our philosophy starts with a simple mindset, focusing on timeless and sophisticated pieces, pieces you can layer in cozy and comfortable spaces, and pieces to elevate that gathering place. Spend time with your art, let it speak to you. Then you'll know it was meant for you.
